SMC RMTA

The SMC RMTA series enables fully automatic end-effector changes without requiring manual intervention by an operator. This significantly reduces downtime in your cobot application while simultaneously increasing the robot arm’s versatility. Thanks to the integrated coupling for compressed air and electrical connections, as well as a safe fall protection mechanism, the RMTA is the ideal solution for highly flexible production environments where a single robotic arm is required to perform various tasks in succession.

Tool change without interruption
End effectors can be changed fully automatically without manual intervention, which minimizes setup times and increases productivity.
Integrated power coupling
The system automatically connects both the compressed air supply and the electrical signals, so the new tool is ready for use immediately.

A built-in mechanism reliably prevents the tool from dropping, even if the compressed air supply is unexpectedly interrupted.

Description

The SMC RMTA was specifically designed to maximize the flexibility of industrial robots and cobots. By using the automatic changer, a single robot arm can perform a wide variety of tasks—from gripping and screwing to measurement tasks—in a single process sequence. The system is fully compatible with the mechanical interface per ISO 9409-1, enabling the use of a wide variety of standardized end-effectors.

The design is particularly space-saving and lightweight to minimize any impact on the robot’s payload. With payload capacities of 5, 10, or 20 kg, the series covers a wide range of cobot applications. The high repeatability also ensures that the tools are precisely positioned after every change, guaranteeing consistently high process quality.
