SMC ZGS

The SMC ZGS vacuum gripping system is the custom-designed solution for demanding palletizing and packaging processes. The complete integration of ejectors, valves, and sensors into a compact housing eliminates the need for the time-consuming setup of complex gripping systems. With its flexible foam surface, the system handles cartons, porous materials, and irregular shapes with ease. Thanks to plug-and-play connectivity via an M8 connector, commissioning on your cobot is completed in no time.

All-in-One Palletizing Specialist
All components, such as vacuum generators, sensors, and valves, are pre-installed—significantly reducing design and installation time.
Flexibility thanks to the foam grip surface
The soft foam conforms to uneven, rough, or porous surfaces and ensures a secure grip on a wide variety of workpieces.
Optimized power-to-weight ratio
The slim and lightweight design allows for the use of smaller robots and maximizes the available payload for your products.

Description

The ZGS system was developed to eliminate the typical challenges of automation—such as varying product sizes and complicated wiring—. While conventional vacuum grippers often consist of many individual parts, the ZGS offers a self-contained unit that is ready for immediate use simply by connecting a compressed air line and an M8 connector.

The integrated ejector ensures a high suction flow rate that maintains a stable vacuum even in the event of leaks—such as with porous cardboard—. The system maintains its gripping force in any orientation, regardless of whether the workpiece is picked up horizontally or vertically. Thanks to the IO-Link-enabled sensors, you also receive real-time feedback on the gripping status directly in the robot controller. This increases process reliability and allows for easy scaling of your palletizing station without costly redesigns.
