SMC ZXPE5
The SMC ZXPE5 is a fully electric vacuum gripper designed specifically to meet the requirements of collaborative robots. Since the vacuum pump is integrated directly into the housing, the system does not require an external compressed air source. With an integrated diagnostic function, a 360° visual status display, and power savings of up to 64% in energy-saving mode, the ZXPE5 offers a highly efficient and clean solution for pick-and-place tasks.
Description
The SMC ZXPE5 series was designed to drastically reduce the complexity of vacuum applications. By eliminating external peripherals and air hoses, the robot arm remains extremely agile and interference contours are minimized. With a weight of only 556 g (base unit), the gripper places only a minimal load on gripper cobot’s payload but can safely handle workpieces weighing up to 5 kg .
A particular advantage is its high adaptability: Users can individually configure the number of suction pads (1, 2, or 4 pads) as well as their shape and material . Whether for flat components, bellows requirements, or sensitive surfaces with food-grade silicone—the ZXPE5 can be precisely configured . Commissioning is virtually instantaneous thanks to plug-and-play via M8 connectors and certified software integration (e.g., URCap for Universal Robots) .
