Aim Robotics TCP Calibration Tool

The TCP Calibration Tool from Aim Robotics enables fully automatic and highly precise calibration of the Tool Center Point (TCP) for collaborative robots. Using operator-safe LED technology, all three axes are measured simultaneously, ensuring consistent accuracy in applications such as dispensing, welding, or gripping. The solution is natively optimized for the Universal Robots e-Series and can be integrated into the production process in no time without complex cabling.

Simultaneous 3-axis calibration
Instead of moving each axis individually, the tool measures X, Y, and Z coordinates simultaneously. This saves valuable setup time and ensures unbeatable repeatability of 0.02 mm or less.
Precise detection of the smallest geometric features
Thanks to the high-resolution sensors, even the smallest dispensing needles or tool tips with a diameter as small as 0.3 mm are reliably detected. The system works regardless of the shape of the tip—whether straight or curved.
Plug & Calibrate in under 10 minutes
The compact design and intuitive URCap software allow for setup in less than 10 minutes. A simple 4-pin connector eliminates the need for bulky power cables and simplifies integration into the workplace.

Description

The TCP Calibration Tool was developed to eliminate variability in manual calibration procedures and maximize process stability. At the heart of the system is precise LED light barrier technology, which operates without wear compared to mechanical probes . Once the tool flange is aligned parallel to the robot base, the tool automatically determines the exact position of the tool tip.

The integrated “Plane Feature” function is particularly useful, as it provides reference points for easy programming of working planes. The housing is made of durable 6061 aluminum and is IP65-certified, providing optimal protection against dust and splashing water and allowing it to remain directly in the manufacturing environment.

Whether during routine replacement of dosing needles or following an accidental collision, the TCP Calibration Tool ensures that the robot path is immediately and precisely restored without the need for manual corrections. Companies thus benefit from reduced scrap rates and significantly higher machine availability.
