Schmalz Lightweight Gripping System SLG

The Schmalz SLG lightweight gripping system is a modular, additively manufactured vacuum gripper designed for cobots, lightweight, SCARA, or delta robots. Thanks to its low weight and flexible configuration options, it is particularly suitable for pick-and-place, palletizing, and automated handling of various workpieces with a payload of up to 10 kg. Quick configuration and robot-specific flanges mean that the gripper is ready for use gripper ("plug-and-play").

Lightweight & dynamic
Additive manufacturing ensures minimal weight and high mobility—ideal for cobots and lightweight robots.
Flexible vacuum generation
Optionally with integrated or external vacuum generator – for pneumatic or electric suction pumps.
Adaptable to workpiece shape and size
Suction cups can be positioned individually for flat, free-standing, or complex geometries—ideal for cartons, films, bags, parts, etc.

Description

The SLG system is based on a lightweight, additively manufactured structure that was specially developed for robots with limited payloads. Topology optimization gives the gripper high gripper with minimal material usage, which has a positive effect on dynamics and energy efficiency.

The gripper be customized in terms of shape, dimensions, and suction cup arrangement to suit the respective workpiece—from flat cardboard boxes to free or complex component geometries. The modular design allows suction cups, brackets, and connection modules to be quickly replaced without having to completely rebuild the system.

Depending on the application, the SLG can either be operated via an integrated vacuum generator or connected to an existing vacuum line. This makes the system suitable for both flexible individual workstations and automated lines. The combination of low weight, high adaptability, and short changeover times makes the SLG system particularly interesting for environments with changing products or small batch sizes.
